Elephant Walk

When the circus comes to town....Elephants walk down the street in front of Union Station? Yeah, that is apparently what happens. The Circus arrived by train and then the elephants walk to the Verizon Center where they get ready for the circus to take place. We took Lily to see this amazing scene and it was quite weird to see those big (and smelly) things walking down Mass Ave.

Lily liked her Daddy's impression of an Elephant much better but she still seemed interested. I think she was thinking that those were the biggest cats she ever saw.

Happy Easter!

Lily had a great Easter! She got a great Easter basket and was excited for her new toys. So many people stopped by and some even brought gifts for Lily. She was super psyched! This little number is from Maura (Thanks Maura!) and also got a great bunny that had a belly button from Carolyn and Adrian (Thanks guys!) Lily managed to keep the butterfly headband on for some time which we all thought was pretty nice of her seeing how it was more for us than her.

She really had a great time being around so many people. We only had to take a break once to get away from it all. I would say she is going to be as social as her Mommy and Daddy. Phew.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Ok, we should have asked Ali (good Ali) where to buy St. Patrick's Day clothes because this is all we could come up with. Sorry Ali! The clothes are both size 18 months...umm, she can barely fit in them. We have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday so we are excited to see her..progress. Yes, let's call it progress.

We had yummy shepherds pie and a Guinness! Lily had her first real potatoes too! She is not particularly fond of swallowing larger pieces of food but we are working on her. Its kind of funny to watch her because she gets this look on her face like...this is disgusting and you are disgusting. Practice, practice, practice!

Anyway, Lily's parents just got back from a lovely vacation with Aunt Cathy and Uncle Chip in Jamaica. It was completely relaxing but in the words of Natalie Cole..We missed you like crazy! (You being Lily..not you readers, we were fine without you.) Anyway, we are glad to be back and had a wonderful weekend reconnecting.

A special shout out to Grandma (Barbara) who worked extra hard to take care of Lily while we were away! Its really nice to know that she was well taken care of and we know if must have been hard on her. Although she still had time to chat with my relatives in upstate NY about Elliot Spitzer. Woah, crazy stuff.

Lily's hair is growing too! Which only means we can mess it up after bathes:

From St. Patty's Day

Lily is still a crawling machine and desperately wants to walk. Of course, doesn't realize that she doesn't have the mechanics completely perfected so tends to bang her head a lot. I am sure that all parents deal with this, if they don't, I don't want to hear about it since it will make me feel bad. Besides, her head is big enough that she can take the blow. And she is really tough..tougher than any other 9 mos and 2 week-old we know!

She loves the swing now too! Although she mostly likes looking at the kids and thinking I want to run around like them...See a video....

Taking Lily to church...sort of...

OK, we did go to a church..not inside or anything but I am counting it. It was gorgeous out yesterday so we walked around our neighborhood with a special stop at the National Cathedral. Although we see it everyday, we forget that we have such a great spot for Lily to hang and to look at this magnificent building. Here are some great pictures that we took. I love this first one because we had it on a timer and you can see that Mike had JUST gotten to sit down since his feet are in mid-air....other than that, I thought we did a good job as a family.

Lily had so much fun. Now that she is standing and crawling and doing everything BUT sitting still she seems to have so much more fun. It is certainly hard to keep up with her but it is a total blast.

Side note: All advice to parents out there...there is absolutely no way you can "BABY-PROOF" a house.
